Description
Named and inspired after the robot protagonist in the immensely popular film Big Hero 6, Huggable Robot Baymax is a soft-bodied robot built for the course Humanoids during the Spring of 2016.
The Inspiration
The robot in Big Hero 6 stood out to me and my team because it represented an unconventional idea of what it meant to be a robot. Ask anyone to think of a robot, and they are probably imagining something that is rigid and mechanical. Meanwhile, Baymax from Big Hero 6 is soft, squishy, and huggable. We made it our challenge to see if we could build such a soft-bodied robot.
